On the coast of California where I grew up, Abalone is a saught after delicacy. Inorder to keep the speices from becoming "over fished" one had to free dive to gather them. It is a real treat to be served abalone. I have always been atracted to the multi rainbow colors found inside the shell of an Abalone.
