This was my first carving using the same technique that I use to this day! The scarab was very popular in 1920's jewelry. Art Deco was the trend, and the treasures unearthed from the Royal tombs of Egypt inspired the designs of the times. The scarab or dung beetle was said to bring up the sun each day. This piece is adorned with an accent of 24K Gold Vermeil.
