The Little Dipper is also known as Ursa Minor Latin for Little Bear. The star at the end of the dipper handle is Polaris the North Star. Polaris is the current North Star. The North Star changes over time because the direction of the earth's axis changes slowly over time.This piece is designed in the style of a traditional Japanese family crest. Simple lines and curves are the draw to this stylized piece.
